Online Portfolio for Alternative Licensure (OPAL)
For Administrators
Welcome to the process of verifying Strand D of a teacher's Online Portfolio for Alternative Licensure (OPAL). When you log into the OPAL system, you are required to verify the following:
- License Holder is satisfactorily demonstrating the essential competencies of the License held.
- License Holder is satisfactorily demonstrating the essential content knowledge of the License held.
- License holder has been the teacher of record and taught with a Level I/Internship for at least one school year (minimum of 160 instructional days or 320 days over multiple full school years).
- License holder has participated in the District's Mentoring Program for a least one school year.
- The candidate's Portfolio is the work of the teacher listed on this specific profile
Online Portfolio for Alternative Liecensure (OPAL) Submission Periods:
The process for submitting OPALs is ongoing.
The Online Portfolio for Alternative Licensure (OPAL) is the online system administrators use to verify Strand D requirements of a teacher's online portfolio.
Please Note: Strand E can not be completed by the Public Education Department until Strand D is completed by the appropriate teacher's administrator. A teacher's portfolio will not be reviewed until Strand D & E are complete.
